Before you start

Skill level: confident beginner. You should be comfortable with single crochet, increases, working flat, joined rounds and hand seaming. Each half-moon bag uses two semicircle panels and a separate gusset; the phone sling uses two flat panels.

Materials: firm worsted/aran cotton yarn, a 4.5 mm hook or size needed for gauge, small buttons, a tapestry needle and basic sewing supplies. Yarn and materials are not included.

Approximate finished body sizes: shoulder bag 31 x 16.5 x 5.9 cm; petite crossbody 24 x 12.9 x 4.7 cm; phone sling 12.5 x 22.4 cm; coin pouch 7-7.5 cm across. Sizes depend on gauge, seam tension and finishing. Instructions include strap-length options and phone-fit checks.
